Thematic Fund Security Bulgaria

Technical Assistance Fund

The bilateral Framework Agreement foresees the possibility of utilizing approximately 1.5% of the total allocation to cover certain management costs in the beneficiary country. Swiss-Bulgarian Research Programme

The joint research program aims at strengthening the research cooperation between Bulgaria and Switzerland in order to further enable the integration of Bulgarian researchers within international networks as well as to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and know-how among researchers. Activities are primarily the organisation of one call for Joint Research Projects applications and the implementation of 15 to 20 selected Joint Research Projects amounting to max 400,000 Swiss francs each.

The project aims to develop the personnel capacities of all stake-holders concerning Schengen topics with a main focus on SIS and SIRENE. Pilot models for environmentally friendly collection and temporary storage of hazardous household waste

Despite existing policy and regulatory frameworks in the field of national waste management in Bulgaria, efficient solutions for the waste problem are not yet employed. In order to address this, law-conforming systems for environmentally friendly collection and temporary storage of hazardous household waste (HHW) shall be established in a pilot project covering 22 pilot municipalities.

Methodological Support for the Development of Green Public Procurement

Public institutions belong to the most important buyers of goods and services in many countries. This project aims to support Bulgaria in its effort to turn “Green Public Procurement (GPP)” into practice, by providing methodological and practical support to public procurement authorities as well as to suppliers of goods and services, by increasing the awareness and exchanging best practices, and by elaborating a practical handbook and its use in public procurement processes. Thereby, the EU’s recommendations on GPP to its member states are taken into account.

Project Preparation Facility (PPF)

The Swiss Contribution to enlargement aims to finance a broad variety of projects. The PPF provided the necessary financial assistance to enable Executing Agencies to submit high quality project proposals. This was especially important in the case of complex projects.
