One year ago, on 21^st October 2015, Mr. Hisham Gaafar, journalist, researcher and head of the board of trustees of the Mada Foundation for Media Development was detained during a search of the foundation. Since then, he has been detained in Al-Aqrab detention facility or in guarded medical care. His health conditions and chronic illness are deteriorating due to the lack of adequate and sufficient medication and examination.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt has cooperated with Mr. Hisham Gaafar on a variety of projects in the area of democratic development and values his great commitment to dialogue and prevention of violence. The Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt expresses concern about the prolonged pre-trial detention and the deteriorating health condition of Mr. Hisham Gaafar. The Embassy supports a release of Mr. Hisham Gaafar on medical and humanitarian grounds.

عامٌ مضى على اعتقال الأستاذ هشام جعفر الصحفي والباحث ورئيس أمناء مؤسسة مدى للتنمية الإعلامية إبان تفتيش مقر المؤسسة في 21 أكتوبر 2015 . منذ ذلك الحين والأستاذ هشام جعفر مُحتجز في سجن العقرب أو في مركز رعاية طبية، في حين تتدهور حالته الصحية ومرضه المزمن  نتيجة  غياب الرعاية الطبية الكافية والفحوصات اللازمة.

لقد تعاونت سفارة سويسرا بالقاهرة مع الأستاذ هشام جعفر في عدد من المشروعات في مجال التنمية الديمقراطية وتُثمن السفارة التزامه وجهوده في مجال دعم الحوار ونبذ العنف، لذا تُعرب السفارة السويسرية بالقاهرة عن قلقها بشأن طول أمد احتجاز الأستاذ هشام جعفر على ذمة القضية وتدهور حالته الصحية ، كما تدعم السفارة الإفراج عنه على أسس صحية وإنسانية.
