This visit was a follow-up of the meeting of December 4th, 2017, between the then President of the Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard and the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, during which Switzerland and Georgia agreed on an enhanced cooperation in this area.

On October 31st, the delegation visited the Kazbegi region and met with the Mayor of Stepantsminda. During a conference which took place the following day, the experts most notably shared with a Georgian audience the best building and renovation projects which were carried out in the Alps in the last years and which were therefore acknowledged in the framework of the "Constructive Alps" international prize. The audience – composed by Georgian civil servants, architects, academics and students – showed great interest in the topic and a lively discussion followed the presentations.
