Whilst the realization of human rights is primarily the responsibility of states, governments are not alone in this: cultural institutions and artists play a key role. We are grateful to Dokufest and its wonderful team for their continuous endeavor to set human rights and humanitarian issues high on the agenda, thereby contributing to vivid and necessary debates and an growing awareness amongst the public.
