3 million CHF to support Moldova manage the refugee crisis

The agreement on the Swiss contribution to the Government of Moldova's intervention fund in the special account opened for the support of Ukrainian refugees was signed by the Minister of Finance Dumitru Budianschi and the Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the Republic of Moldova Caroline Tissot on 27 April.

The document formalizes Switzerland's donation to the Republic of Moldova, announced during the visit of the President of the Confederation Ignazio Cassis to Chisinau on 21-22 March 2022.  

According to the provisions of the Agreement, the Swiss Government will provide the Republic of Moldova with its contribution by way of donation, amounting to 3 million Swiss francs (59 million lei), support for refugees to finance the expenses and needs of public authorities incurred in the process of managing the refugee crisis in Ukraine. 

Caroline Tissot, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova, said that "This Agreement represents a mobilisation of the Swiss side's efforts to contribute to the strengthening of capacities to respond to the refugee crisis by providing the necessary support to the Ukrainian people hosted in the Republic of Moldova".
