In the framework of its Sectorial Dialogue Partnership with ASEAN, which celebrates 2017 its 50th anniversary, Switzerland was invited to participate at the ASEAN Foreign Minister's Meeting taking place in Manila. State Secretary for Asia and Pacific Johannes Matyassy represented Switzerland at the events organized by the Philippines, this year’s chair of ASEAN.
The State Secretary discussed the relationship of Switzerland with ASEAN in a trilateral meeting with the Philippine Chair of ASEAN and the ASEAN General Secretariat. During his stay in Manila, the State Secretary and the Swiss delegation also discussed bilateral and regional issues with the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and other partners.
