On 18 October 2021 Swiss Ambassador Urs Schmid met with Mayor of the City of Kragujevac Nikola Dasic to discuss issues regarding economic development and employment, especially concerning the labor market and its challenges. An agreement of cooperation was signed which envisages the support of the City of Kragujevac to the Swiss-Serbian E2E project on raising the employability of young people through the organization of work-based-learning training with employers from the City of Kragujevac territory. The agreement is a positive sign that trainings for young people are becoming sustainable permanent solutions and that companies and local self-governments are participating in it together.

„The city of Kragujevac has recognized the potential of this project and it is very important for us to sign today's Agreement in which we participate with 10 percent, out of a total of 18 million dinars awarded by the Swiss government to which we owe great gratitude for that. Young people are our priority and make our future”, said Mayor Dasic.

Ambassador Schmid expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome in Kragujevac. He was pleased to note that through the implementation of the E2E project, a significant number of young people from this city and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to prepare for entering the labor market through skills upscaling and practical training. “The previous experiences of the project and more than 400 young people who got jobs in companies from Kragujevac showed that this model is useful and that the local economy is strengthened through increasingly active engagement of young people who are building the future in their local communities” - said Ambassador Schmid.

Prior to the signing ceremony, H.E. Urs Schmid visited the company IME Autolift in Kragujevac, which is one of the participants in the E2E work-based learning training program for young people, accompanied by Mr. Derek George, Deputy Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Serbia, representatives of the "Education to Employment" project and the local brokerage organization BIPS. So far, 18 young trainees for the Railway elevator manufacturer occupation have been trained in this company through the E2E project.
