A delegation of Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail meets with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić

On 21 June 2021, Swiss Ambassador Urs Schmid attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail and the Serbian Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

The ceremony was followed by presentations of the Serbian government about current plans to developing transport infrastructure in Serbia and investment possibilities. The meeting and the following dinner were attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Aleksandar Vučić, and Mr. Peter Spuhler, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and Group CEO a.i. of Stadler Rail, as well as the Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, the Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, the Minister of Transport Tomislav Momirović, the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and other Stadler Rail representatives.

The Swiss Embassy welcomes the intention of Stadler Rail to support the infrastructure development of Serbia with the delivery of high quality trains and trams and the announced interest to invest inter alia in the production of transformers in Serbia. In line with its bilateral cooperation program, the Embassy supports all efforts to deepen Swiss-Serbian economic relations and to promote sustainable and high-quality economic development in Serbia.
