The COVID-19 crisis has affected nearly 70% of the world’s student population. It reminds us of the importance of inclusive education, to ensure that every child has a right to relevant quality education. The Swiss launch of the UNESCO 2020 Global Education Monitoring Report will be an opportunity to revisit the challenges of inclusion in education in the context of international cooperation and in the Swiss education system.

Location: Online

The 2020 Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report assesses progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on education. The 2020 GEM Report, entitled 'Inclusion and Education: all means all,' was co-financed by the SDC and addresses inclusion in education. The report draws attention to all those  excluded from quality education.

The Swiss launch, which is hosted by the SDC and its partners, will address the barriers to inclusive education in the context of international cooperation and in the Swiss education system. It will take a particularly close look at the impact of the current COVID-19 crisis. The report will be presented by Manos Antoninis, Director of the GEM Report. A panel of experts will also discuss experience gained in the context of inclusion in education in Switzerland and international cooperation.
