OCHA is responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure coherent response to emergencies and to facilitate the work of operational humanitarian agencies in the field. SDC aims to support OCHA in delivering its core functions in humanitarian coordination, advocacy and policy development. Therefore, SDC seeks to provide support to OCHA field offices in relevant humanitarian contexts, in line with SDC geographic and thematic priorities.

Il progetto «Decentralizzazione e consolidamento territoriale in Ucraina» offre un sostegno tecnico e pratico alle autorità ucraine nell'attuazione della riforma di decentralizzazione che mira in particolare alla fusione dei Comuni. A lungo termine la riforma deve permettere alle municipalità di essere più efficaci e di fornire servizi pubblici di qualità ai loro cittadini.

Emergency assistance to Conflict-affected population in Eastern Ukraine

Since 2014, a deep political crisis in Ukraine resulted in a major internal conflict, which led to massive displacement of civilian population and heavy destruction of infrastructures and private properties. A ceasefire lasting since 15 February 2015 has allowed the Swiss Humanitarian Aid (SHA) to conduct 2 assessment missions, which have identifed immediate assistance needed by the populations in the Oblasts of Donetsk and Lugansk.

La DSC sostiene un progetto delle Nazioni Unite nei distretti amministrativi Luhansk e Donetsk colpiti dal conflitto che sono sotto il controllo del Governo statale. L’obiettivo è ricostruire le amministrazioni locali e sostenere il dialogo tra i vari attori per rafforzare la coesione sociale. Si tratta della prima grande iniziativa internazionale per la ricostruzione del Donbas nell’Ucraina orientale.

Second Allocation of SDC Funding to ICRC Operations in 2015

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.

The SRC’s overall goal is to contribute to healthy and safe living for vulnerable groups and communities. Since access to quality health care services remains a key factor for good health, the SRC promotes both supply and demand side of local health systems. As healthy living also depends on the environment, SRC focuses on health determinants such as water, sanitation, nutrition and health literacy. Adressing risks and disasters, SRC programmes encompass disaster risk reduction measures and foster community resilience.
