Ukraine: SET Emergency Support

Project completed

As an emergency response to the suffering of the Ukrainian people impacted by the Russian military invasion of the country, a rapid response team is deployed to the Ukrainian border zone in order to deliver humanitarian relief goods.

Background As a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the intensifying military clashes throughout Ukrainian territory, hundreds of thousands of people no longer have access to electricity, water, food and other basic supplies. The United Nations estimates that 300’000 people have been displaced by the war. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), more than 160’000 people have fled within the country and over 116’000 additional people have fled to neighbouring countries. The number of refugees is expected to rise sharply in the coming days.

Results

Expected results:  

  • Rapid response teams are deployed, coordinate and implement the delivery of humanitarian relief goods to the authorities in charge of the emergency situation
  • SHA experts are engaged in the most needed sectors to assistance organisations


Results from previous phases:   For the current year, SDC is already financially contributing to UNOCHA (multi-bi contribution and contribution to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund), as well as to the ICRC.
