A plus for sustainable development – virtual event for the 60th anniversary of international cooperation: 9 September 2021, 1–3pm (CET, Bern).

Location: Virtuell

On Thursday, 9 September 2021, from 1 to 3 pm (CET, Bern), SDC’s virtual event for the 60th anniversary of Switzerland’s international cooperation (IC) takes place. We would be delighted if you could be with us for this global event. Join us live from wherever you happen to be – in the office, at home or on the road – and put your questions directly to our experts on four continents.

Fighting poverty and hunger; humanitarian aid; promoting health and education; economic development; global challenges: these are some of the many areas in which Switzerland’s IC is active, and today we celebrate its 60th anniversary. It's a story peppered with countless challenges that demand an unswerving spirit of adaptation and innovation.

Despite much progress, IC today faces a multitude of complex global challenges. These include rising inequality, climate change, the emergence of new conflicts, the rise of authoritarianism, gender-based violence, discrimination and the paring away of human rights. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing challenges and threatens to undermine the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was agreed with unanimous international support.

Register by 6 September 2021 at the latest. The participation is free of charge. Simultaneous interpretation into German, French and English will be provided.
