Visions du Réel

Visions du Réel – Switzerland’s only documentary film festival – enjoys an international reputation and is an important gathering for professionals in the documentary film industry. The SDC supports the festival, which not only gives film-makers and producers from the South and East access to a Swiss audience, but also to an international film market. Film projects are supported and promoted at the various stages of development, from their inception right up to the actual screening. 

The Focus section presents each year the documentary films of a country in Asia, Latin America, Africa or Eastern Europe. This year, South Africa is in the spotlight. The audience can expect to see a diverse and fascinating programme of 20 documentary films, which will be presented by the South African directors and producers invited to the festival. In addition, the Focus Talk on 25 April 2017 will deal with the film industry today in South Africa. The same day, five film projects still under development will be presented by the South African film teams invited to the festival. The best project will be awarded the Visions Sud Est prize, which includes the sum of CHF 10,000.
