Contesto | Since late July, Chad is heavily affected by torrential rains and the resulting floods. As of October 2024, almost 2 million people have been affected in all 23 provinces, with 576 casualties and over 217’000 homes destroyed. As rains are expected to continue, the humanitarian crisis is likely to intensify further. Due to the lack of access to WASH services throughout the country, the risk of an epidemic is high. Furthermore, the flooding will negatively impact food security in Chad. Already it is estimated that 3.4 million people will face severe food insecurity during the 2024 lean season – representing the highest value of food insecurity ever recorded for Chad. |
Obiettivi | Contribute to meeting the urgent needs of 389’000 people in seven provinces affected by the floods. |
