Bern, Press releases, 16.06.2010

The FDFA is relieved to hear the news of the release by Philippine security forces of a Swiss-Philippine dual citizen who had been held captive since 4 April 2010.

In the early hours of 16 June, Philippine troops liberated the Swiss-Philippine man who had been kidnapped near Zamboanga City on 4 April 2010.

The FDFA thanks the Philippine authorities for the successful execution of the operation to liberate the man. The Swiss Embassy in Manila has been in close contact with the Philippine authorities and the man’s family in the country for the entire period since the time he was kidnapped.

An interdepartmental task force led by the FDFA has been working to secure the man’s release since the kidnapping became known.
