Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter underlined the need for good relations with Switzerland's largest neighbour: "Germany is not only one of Switzerland's most important trading partners, but also an important player in international bodies. It is therefore important and useful to present our interests through regular dialogue."
Topics at the upcoming meeting will include the state of government finances and the debt brake, which is applied in both countries. The Federal Councillor and the Minister will also discuss international financial market stability and the implementation of OECD rules on the minimum taxation of large multinational enterprises.
In addition, Karin Keller-Sutter and Christian Lindner will be informed at their meeting about the results of a workshop held on the same day in Berlin by experts from the Swiss Federal Department of Finance and the German Federal Ministry of Finance on the regulation of systemically important banks.
Germany is one of Switzerland's most important trading partners, with an annual trade volume of over CHF 100 billion.
