CRC: Integration of migrants and host communities in Cali
SDC will support the Colombian Red Cross (Cruz Roja Colombiana, CRC) in improving cultural and socioeconomic integration of Venezuelan migrants, Colombian returnees and vulnerable host communities in Cali. This project will work on the nexus between responding to humanitarian needs and building conditions for socioeconomic stabilization among migrants, returnees and vulnerable population. It will take place in a context of protection risks especially for women, youngsters and children associated to illegal economies and armed actors.

Contexte |
Colombia continues to be the country with the largest number of Venezuelan migrants in Latin America. It has become a destination and a transit route to other countries in the region; in both cases with high protection risks for women, youth, boys and girls. While many migrants are still in a transit, the number of people settling in the country is growing. Cali –a city near the Pacific coast and the border with Ecuador– hosts displaced victims of the armed conflict, settled in the same areas where the migrant and returnee population is arriving. There are limited actions that facilitates integration processes, in a context of protection risks especially for women, youngsters and children due to to illegal economies and armed actors. |
Objectifs | Contribute to the social cohesion of the migrant population and the host communities in the city of Cali |
Groupes cibles |
Directly: 3,493 people from Venezuela (migrants and returnees) (70%) and host communities (30%) in Cali, Valle del Cauca. Indirectly: 10,479 indirect beneficiaries (beneficiary families, communities, schools, and community action boards). |
Effets à moyen terme |
Outcome 1. Migrants and host communities reduce their protection risks and access information services, psychosocial care and are referred to institutional care routes. Outcome 2. Migrants and host communities have equitable access to income generation opportunities (productive units and cash transfers) that promote their stabilization processes. Outcome 3. Integration processes between migrants and host communities strengthened, through building a culture of peace and coexistence. |
