Programme psychosocial Grands Lacs
Gender-based violence is very prevalent in all three countries of the Great Lakes Region. In order to help women and children who have become victims of rape and sexual violence, this programme is concerned with providing psychological, medical and social assistance to victims through the public health system and NGOs active in this field. Moreover, the programme focuses on promoting women’s and victims’ rights and their socio-economic re-integration. The programme thus contributes to the dynamics of reconciliation and rebuilding of the social ties in Rwanda, Burundi and in DRC. In the longer term the program aims to address and integrate the issue of gender based violence at national politic level.
