Dear visitor,
Välkommen!
Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Sweden!
If you have reached this page, you know that Switzerland and Sweden are not the same countries and that the Swiss (or at least most of them) do not speak Swedish! But our two countries have many things in common. The fact that they are sometimes mistaken for each other is not a coincidence, and it does not bother us. On the contrary, I see it as a compliment to be mistaken for Sweden, such a fantastic country!
Switzerland and Sweden share many values and are very often like-minded. They work closely together on the international scene to protect human rights and human dignity, promote a rule-based global order and ensure a better protection of the environment and its biodiversity. Another common feature is the fact that our two economies are driven by entrepreneurship, innovation and new technologies, with high performing service sectors and export industries. Similarities also exist in the historical trajectory. Our two countries, so profoundly peaceful, were military powers at one point in European history, before opting for a status of military neutrality and embracing the cause of peace promotion and humanitarian action.
I and my colleagues at the Embassy look very much forward to working with you to further strengthen the cooperation between Switzerland and Sweden and to introducing you to all that Switzerland has to offer as a destination for culture, tourism, education or research, as well as a place to invest in and do business with.
Our website provides you with some basic information about Switzerland and its links with Sweden. You will also find information on travelling to and working in Switzerland and on the Swiss political system.
Swiss citizens living in Sweden or temporarily visiting the country will also find information on how the Embassy can support them in case of need and how they can order passports and ID cards and access other services. The Embassy of Switzerland in Stockholm hosts a Regional Consular Centre which provides consular services to all Swiss citizens living in the Nordic and Baltic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia).
Swiss Companies interested in the Swedish and Nordic markets can receive support from the Trade Point Nordics – the local branch of the Swiss trade promotion agency Switzerland Global Enterprise. The Trade Point also helps Nordic companies who are considering an establishment in Switzerland.
We invite you to connect with us and to visit our Facebook page and/or Twitter account! We are very interested in your comments. Please let us know your thoughts and suggestions. You can also reach us under stockholm@eda.admin.ch.
Cordiales salutations, beste Grüsse, cordiali saluti, cordials salids, vänliga hälsingar
