Academic Internship
Location: Yerevan, Armenia
The Embassy of Switzerland in Armenia is offering an academic internship to start on 1 March 2026, initially for a period of 6 months, extendable by mutual agreement for a further 6 months. This internship provides an opportunity to gain initial experience in diplomacy and international cooperation within a dynamic team in an exciting country, politically, culturally and economically.
The position is full-time (40 hours per week), with 100% occupation rate. Monthly remuneration for this position will cover local living costs (accommodation, food, local transport costs, Swiss health insurance with international coverage and appropriate leisure activities). The relocation costs are covered by the academic intern.
Required qualifications and skills:
The ideal candidate has
- a university degree (BA or MA) in economics, social sciences or humanities
- very good knowledge of at least two official languages of Switzerland and excellent written and spoken English skills
- IT-Skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
- a committed and flexible mindset, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong intercultural communication skills along with excellent organizational abilities
Conditions for eligibility:
Applicant must
- be a Swiss citizen, or be a non-Swiss citizen with a valid work permit in Switzerland for the duration of the internship
- have graduated from university or a university of applied sciences after 1 March 2025
- not have completed more than 6 months of cumulative internship experience in the Swiss Federal Administration since first graduating from a university or a university of applied sciences
Areas of responsibility:
- Gathering information, analysing context, reporting and, as required, performing administrative tasks in support of the Head of Mission and the international cooperation programme in Armenia
- Assisting with preparing and accompanying high-level visits from Switzerland, including for major diplomatic events (May and October), cooperating with host country authorities, diplomatic missions, civil society and interest groups
- Assisting with the implementation of small-scale projects supported by the embassy in the areas of culture (including Francophonie) and human rights
- Assisting with the organisation of embassy events, representing the embassy at external briefings, conferences and other events
- Contributing to the embassy's social media presence and responding to external enquiries relating to Switzerland
