With the integration of the Swiss Business Hub and Switzerland Tourism, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai reopens as a comprehensive Swiss platform for diplomacy, trade & investment, cultural exchange and tourism promotion. The grand opening of the new state-of-the-art offices takes place on 26th May 2017 with guided tours through the new premises at Nariman Point. The celebrations continue in the evening at the Trident Hotel with a grand reception.

The film "Being there – Da sein" (Thomas Lüchinger | Switzerland | 2016 | 95 mins) portraits four people from different cultures who provide care to terminally ill persons. By confronting their own mortality, they show ways of how to care for individuals in the last period of life, and how this connects to their own life again and again, reflecting on their own relation to death and dying.

It was screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The film has been nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film at the 89th Academy Awards. It was also selected as the Swiss entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, making the December shortlist.

The Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai and the Embassy, in collaboration with Alliance Française, will screen Swiss films 'Sam' by Elena Hazanov, 'Neige' by Antoine Lanciaux, Sophie Roze and ‘Dimitri à Ubuyu’ by Agnès Lecreux during the Francophonie week in March 2017.The 'Francophonie Mela' takes place in New Delhi on 18th March 2017 at the Alliance Française. On the occasion of the FILLM Conference 2017 “The Familiar and the Exotic in Language and Literature: The Politics of Perception and Representation”, Prof. Babli Moitra-Saraf and Swiss author Oliver Scharpf will present a different perspective on the popular myths about Switzerland based on the latest book written by Scharpf – “The Chalet and Other Swiss Myths”. The plenary session will be chaired by Prof. Radha Chakravorty.

The exhibition encompasses artworks from the collection of Alice Boner Institute - once the home of Alice Boner- and Bharat Kala Bhavan - a museum which houses a permanent gallery on Alice Boner. It highlights the contributions of this pioneering artist and scholar of Indian art and art history who made Varanasi her home for over four decades of her life (1931-78).

Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) is held every year in the city of Pune. PIFF is an important festival on the calendar for film buffs as well as film fraternity across the globe. The festival is a hub of activities with screenings, discussions, networking seminars and workshops. The Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai would be participating in the 15th edition of PIFF with 2 blockbuster Swiss films “Heidi” and “Schellen-Ursli” - with an India premier planned for the latter.
