Federal Council adopts Digital Switzerland Strategy 2025

Press releases, 13.12.2024

On 13 December, the Federal Council adopted the updated Digital Switzerland Strategy for 2025 and selected new focus themes, thereby setting its current priorities.

Switzerland must continue stepping up its efforts in the digital transformation field if it is to remain a leader in innovation and competitiveness. The Digital Switzerland Strategy is a key instrument by which the Federal Council sets priorities for the digital transformation in Switzerland. It serves as a guide for all public and private stakeholders in the country.

The strategy is adopted annually by the Federal Council, with two to three focus themes selected each year. The Federal Administration concentrates its work on the focus themes for the relevant year and launches concrete measures. All measures in the Digital Switzerland Strategy are summarised in a public action plan.

The focus themes for 2025 are:

•    Artificial intelligence: Legal situation and the use of AI in the Federal Administration
•    Strengthening information security and cybersecurity for the whole of Switzerland
•    Promoting the use of Open Source Software in the Federal Administration

For each focus theme, the Confederation also organises an advisory board meeting with representatives from business, science, politics, authorities and civil society.
