Repatriation Campaign by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA)
The World Health Organization WHO declared the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic. There is a risk of infection in all regions of the world. The Federal Council has therefore been recommending since 16 March 2020 that Swiss travellers abroad return to their place of residence.
Since many travellers are no longer able to return home with their own resources due to local travel restrictions, the FDFA has launched a repatriation campaign together with airlines. Flights will be announced when the technical flight clarifications have been completed. There is no guarantee that all Swiss citizens can be repatriated.
The FDFA continues to ask all travellers abroad to register their trip and whereabouts quickly on the Travel Admin App to ensure that the embassy can contact you.
Situation in Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde
At present, no charter flight back to Switzerland is planned for these destinations. If the situation changes, the embassy would inform on this website and via Facebook and Twitter. Please consult this website regularly.
