Contexte | The humanitarian situation in Sudan has steadily worsened since conflict erupted across the country in April 2023. While hunger was already on the rise, the ongoing fighting has escalated the magnitude and extreme severity of food insecurity. More than half of the population are facing acute hunger and 755 k people have been classified as living in IPC Phase 5. In Zamzam Camp in North Darfur, the first famine anywhere in the world since 2017 has been confirmed. In order to address both the manifestation and the root causes of food insecurity, close collaboration between humanitarian and development actors is paramount. |
Objectifs | Strengthen food and nutrition security of 23.2 m people among conflict-affected, vulnerable farming and pastoral communities in Sudan through the provision of critical and resilience-focused agricultural lively-hood assistance. |
Groupes cibles | 23.2 m individuals in the most vulnerable communities across all 18 states including IDPs, members of host communities and non-hosting individuals |
