SECO Start-up Fund - Administration 2017-24

The SECO Start-up Fund is a debt vehicle that provides loans to Swiss-based individuals or small enterprises for the purpose of launching a business in Swiss partner countries. The SECO Start-up Fund is fully owned by the Swiss Confederation and consitutes an instrument of the Swiss Economic Cooperation and Development programme.


Advisory Centre on WTO Law IV

The Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL) was established in 2001 with the goal of enabling developing countries, and in particular least developed countries (LDCs), to better understand their rights and obligations in the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and to provide them with equal opportunities to defend their interests in the WTO dispute settlement proceedings. ACWL provides three types of services to this end: legal advice on WTO law, support in dispute settlement proceedings and legal training.


Warehouse Receipts System in Ghana

Lack of access to finance is a key constraint for small and medium enterprises in Ghana to growth and job creation. The agricultural sector is underserved by financial institutions due to perceived risks and missing securities. Strengthening the Warehouse Receipts System will help to address this.


UN Trade Cluster Tanzania, Phase II

With the UN Interagency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity (UN Trade Cluster) SECO responds to the political relevance of the "Aid for Trade" initiative. The approach integrates the various core competences of SECO's trade related technical assistance, which have been developed in cooperation with strategic multilateral partners of the UN system such as UNCTAD, ILO, UNIDO and ITC.


Solid Waste Management in Berat

SECO is supporting the Region of Berat in Albania including its municipalities Berat, Kuçovë, Poliçan, Skrapar and Ura Vajgurore, in improving quality, reliability and sustainability of its solid waste management (SWM) services. The support encompasses capacity development, technical assistance and Short Term SWM Measures.



RA and PFM Reform in Southeast Europe (SEE II)

This project of the IMF, co-financed by SECO and the EU, supports Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia in improving their revenue adminstrations and public financial management.


INDOBUS Urban Transport

The Indonesian Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Development Project (INDOBUS) managed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) assists Indonesian municipalities in developing bus rapid transit corridors as a backbone for sustainable urban mobility systems. It entails technical assistance and capacity-building for cities and ministries to foster the implementation of bus based mass public transport in medium-sized cities.


Cities and Climate Change in Africa (CICLIA)

Cities and Climate Change in Africa (CICLIA) is a program managed by the Agence française de Développement for preparation of climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in Sub-Sahara Africa cities. CICLIA proposes to bridge the existing gap between policy-making and actual financing and implementation of low-carbon infrastructure projects.


Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance, Phase II

SECO is partnering with the World Bank to implement the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (DRFI) Program to support primarily SECO priority countries in building their financial resilience to natural disasters. Countries receive technical assistance helping them in their advance planning of financing needs in the case of natural disasters.


Indonesian-Swiss Intellectual Property (ISIP), Phase II

Intellectual property rights support economic competitiveness and innovation. With its rich cultural diversity and 56 million SMEs, Indonesia has a strong potential to strengthen its creative industries. ISIP-2 supports Indonesia’s strategy to bolster innovation and income generation by improving stakeholder awareness, access and benefits from a robust Intellectual Property framework.


Khujand Public Transport Project, Tajikistan

The SECO-EBRD project aims to improve passenger transport services in Greater Khujand. The project entails investments, regulatory support, Corporate Development support for the public transport company and a stakeholder engagement program.
