Global Financial Infrastructure Programme

The Global Financial Infrastructure Programme (hereafter, the programme) will support the development and creation of well-functioning financial markets in SECO’s priority countries. With a specific focus on credit reporting and secured transaction, the programme will facilitate financial inclusion and foster responsible access to finance. It will be implemented by the the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Financial Sector Strengthening Albania

E15Initiative: Advancing Sustainable Development Through Trade

Enhancing Quality of Financial Reporting Project

This project aims at improving the corporate financial reporting framework in Albania. It supports the Government of Albania's long-term strategy with the aim to align its regulatory framework with the relevant EU legislation. The project is implemented by the World Bank.


Remittances and Payments Program

This program, which is executed by the World Bank, aims to make the transfer of remittances, i.e. the money that is sent home by migrants, cheaper, safer and more convenient. This will result in an increase of the available resources for migrants and their families and in an increased usage of formal transfer channels and basic financial services.


Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Phase II

The Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) is an international voluntary standard to disclose revenues from extracting non-renewable natural resources. The objective of the EITI is to increase transparency and thereby reduce corruption and strengthen accountability of governments of resource-rich developing countries. Switzerland as a supporting country of the EITI contributes to the operating cost of the EITI International Secretariat.


Pilot Auction Facility for Methane and Climate Change Mitigation Framework

The Pilot Auction Facility for Methane and Climate Change Mitigation ("PAF") is an innovative results-based climate finance facility aimed at stimulating investment in low-cost greenhouse gas emission reductions. The PAF would auction put options that guarantee a floor price on carbon emission reduction credits ("ERs").


Energy Efficient Street Lighting Retrofit Project

Five innovative Street Lightning LED Retrofit Projects will be realized with the aim to generate best practices models and build capacities in promoting energy efficiency in the public street lighting sector in South Africa. This project will be implemented by GIZ in the framework of their South African German Energy Program (SAGEN).
