The Swiss Federal Councilor and Head of Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) Viola Amherd visited Bosnia and Herzegovina today. In Mostar, the Head of DDPS exchanged with the Swiss Armed Forces within the EUFOR Althea. She also met with her counterpart, Defense Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marina Pendeš as well as with representatives of civil society in Mostar.


Switzerland invests into BiH youth for change

Strengthening civic engagement and mobilizing young people is an important aspect of the Swiss Cooperation Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The Swiss Embassy in BiH has recognized the MOZAIK Foundation as a new partner in these efforts and will invest 7 million KM in the Foundation’s youth projects over the next four years. The support is intended for young people who decide to go into entrepreneurship and launch their own businesses which will be of broader interest to all citizens in their local communities.

Switzerland’s response to migration crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Red Cross of the Federation of BiH, supported by Switzerland, provided food to migrants in Bihać.

The high number of stranded migrants, the lack of shelters and harsh winter conditions have created a serious challenge for a small country with limited accommodation and financial capacities such as Bosnia and Herzegovina. Continuation of Swiss assistance in mine action in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Director of cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Barbara Dätwyler Scheuer and the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) Regional Director for South East Europe, Sven Jonas Zachrisson, signed the agreement for the continuation of mine action activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the amount of 950.000 Swiss Francs (ca. 1,6 million BAM).


Social Security Agreement with Bosnia and Herzegovina signed in Sarajevo

01.10.2018 — Local news Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bern, 01.10.2018 - The Swiss Ambassador, Andrea Rauber Saxer, and the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Minister for Civil Affairs, Adil Osmanovic, signed the Social Security Agreement of Switzerland with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo today. With the new Agreement, the legal relations related to social security between the two states have been updated. The Agreement shall enter into force as soon as the parliaments of both states have ratified it.
