Change in the embassy's opening hours (COVID-19) :
Due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19, this embassy is open to the public by appointment only from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:00: email@example.com / +53 (0) 7 204 2611.
It is not yet possible for nationals of third countries (such as Cuba) to travel to Switzerland, whether for holidays, sightseeing or other reasons.
You will find detailed and up-to-date information on the conditions for entering Switzerland on the website of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM). The list of countries or areas with a higher risk of infection requiring quarantine on entry into Switzerland, drawn up by the Federal Office of Public Health, is regularly updated. Detailed and updated information is available here.
On 3 August 2020, a new SEM Directive came into force. It applies to visits in the context of a romantic relationship, to unmarried couples, unregistered partners and other stable relationships without joint children, provided that the conditions set out in the Schengen Information Sheet on Visitor Visas and the following conditions are met :
- confirmation of the link established with the person concerned ;
- proof of at least one personal physical visit (meeting) in Switzerland or abroad before the entry restrictions were put in place.
Holiday relationships do not allow entry into Switzerland. The relationship must already be of a certain duration and be stable. The persons concerned must be able to prove that they were in regular contact before and during the coronavirus crisis.
However, this directive does not guarantee travellers' entry into Switzerland, as the final decision is taken by the border authorities.
Travellers wishing to enter Switzerland from Cuba should contact the representations of the countries where the stopover takes place to find out about transit conditions at the airports.
Further information can be found on the website of the State Secretariat for Migration.
The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) invites all Swiss citizens travelling to register on the Travel Admin App.
The Embassy recommends that the Swiss community in Cuba and Jamaica follow the guidelines and recommendations of the local authorities for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. If you have any questions, please contact the Ministry of Health of Cuba or Jamaica on this subject.
In Switzerland, the competent authority is the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), which regularly provides information on the situation in our country on its website.
