A study tour to Switzerland enabled first-hand exchange between Swiss and Serbian stakeholders about the best practices of the European Energy Award (EEA). The 20 Serbian participants exchanged with representatives of the Swiss EEA cities of Basel, Biel, Lucerne, and Zürich. The Serbian representatives established good relations with Swiss hosts that will be relevant for the future efforts of Serbian municipalities.

Contract signing ceremony for the reconstruction of district heating systems

Priboj and Mali Zvornik are the first of six municipalities whose heating plants will be switched to biomass fuel, which will save 15 percent on energy costs. Contracts for the reconstruction of district heating systems were signed between the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the two municipalities as part of the project "Promoting the Use of Renewable Energy Sources in the Development of the Biomass Market", which aims to use biomass instead of fossil fuels in Serbia, a project supported by the Government of Switzerland with a donation of 4.75 million euros.
