As Ambassador Schmid pointed out, Serbia has continued to be an attractive market for Swiss companies and Switzerland is among the top six foreign investors in Serbia. According to latest figures, Swiss companies in Serbia employ nearly 14’000 persons; the Information and Communications branch being the most rapidly growing business sector. Minister Cvetković emphasized the importance of the presence of Swiss companies operating in Serbia and expressed his readiness to support Swiss investors in the realization of their business intentions, both in the process of realizing their investment projects and in protecting the acquired rights of investors.
Mr. Majo Micovic, President of the Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, briefed participants about the activities and future plans of the Chamber, which currently counts 70 members. Furthermore, the round table took note of the new Swiss supported project “SME Hub”, a public -private initiative to enable local SMEs to meet the demanding requirements of multinational companies producing in Serbia and become suppliers. The round table also discussed the latest achievements of the introduction of dual vocational education and training in Serbia, which will further foster employment and facilitate innovative investments in Serbia.
