The call for applications for the ThinkSwiss Research Scholarships: Asia Pacific 2023 is now open! A unique chance for students enrolled in Singapore universities to spend up to three months in Switzerland and redefine your research thinking at a Swiss university. The scholarship supports your project with a prorated monthly scholarship of CHF 1’800 (about 2’500 SDG) for up to three months. We are excited to receive your application until 15 January 2023.

After two long years, the Swiss Club is finally able to host the traditional Swiss National Day celebration in their premises! Building on the success of previous years' memorable events, this celebration of all things Swiss promises a full evening of enjoyment, Swiss fare, wines, beverages, music and dancing. The programme includes opening speeches, amongst others by our deputy heads of mission Barbara Gonzenbach and Nikolas Stürchler Gonzenbach, a screening of President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis, a traditional lampion parade for children and a festive bonfire, live music by the Swiss Alpine Lions brass band, Apero with wines sponsored by the Swiss embassy, sumptuous appetiser and buffet spread with raclette stations, and a lucky draw with prizes. The Swiss National Day Celebration takes place on Saturday 6 August 2022, from 6-11pm. To take part in the festivities, purchase your tickets here.

Together with the Delegation of the European Union, the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States and the diplomatic mission of Norway, the Swiss Embassy issued a statement on 06 July 2022 calling on Singapore authorities to halt the execution of Kalwant Singh and Norasharee bin Gous, and to commute their sentences to a non-capital sentence.

Switzerland's election to the UN Security Council

On 9 June 2022, the UN General Assembly elected Switzerland as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for a two-year period from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024. During its term, Switzerland will use its strengths to promote peace and security and position itself as a neutral bridge-builder, and promote its interests through direct contact with the major players on the international stage. Switzerland will be able to use its seat on the Security Council to promote its stance more strongly and thus exert influence on international developments as a credible partner.

The embassy is proud to take part in this year’s European Film Festival, which will be held from 12-26th May 2022! We are part of 23 countries that will present a total of 24 films at the festival, showcasing the best of European cinema. This year’s Swiss entry to the EUFF will be Atlas (2021) - directed by Swiss filmmaker Niccolò Castelli, it is a gripping story of resilience and renewal.

Curated by the techart platform BeFantastic.in, a techart platform which envisions a positive, sustainable future leveraging creative tech, the artworks are a result of the recent international fellowship program “BeFantastic Together”.
