Embassy Access During Lockdown

The fight against the spread of the coronavirus covers the Embassy as well and measures to combat the pandemic have to be followed. However, the Embassy remains accessible for assistance and can be reached via the contact information on the right side of the page.

Due to challenges posed by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, and to ensure the safety of visitors and staff as well as continuity of service, the Embassy’s visa section will remain open on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Kindly take notice and plan accordingly.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Emergency Notice

On 18 March 2020, the Swiss Federal Council decided, that entry at the Schengen external borders is generally prohibited with few exceptions. Switzerland follows the practice of the other Schengen states. Until further notice, Switzerland will not issue Schengen visas for the time being. National visas will also only be issued in exceptional cases, for example to family members of Swiss citizens with a right of presence in Switzerland who require a visa and to specialists from the health sector upon appointment.

On state level, the Federal Office of Public Health of Switzerland FOPH informs in regards to the Novel Coronavirus and publishes travel advice accordingly. 

The Travel Advice FDFA (in German, French and Italian) offers travelers basic information for travel preparation by informing on possible risks and certain precautions. They are to be considered as a complementary source of information.
