Driver on-call (Fixed-term contract)

The position is a part-time engagement. The driver will provide driving service on call basis to backstop full time SCO drivers who are on leave or during peak season. The selected Driver on-call will be contacted by the SCO for an assignment in advance and will be paid for actual hours/days of service made.

Objectives and main responsibilities:

Under the guidance and supervision of SCO Logistic Officer, the Driver on-call provides safe driving services to the SCO and visitors ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver on call also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Upon request of the supervisor, the Driver can be also required to provide driving services to the SCO staff, Consultants and Experts and Swiss staff on mission.

The Driver is expected to fully adhere to and keep abreast with standing guidelines and policies concerning drivers’ roles and responsibilities.

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by a) driving service for SCO Dushanbe and its visitors during public holidays and weekends, after and before working hours (after 17:30 and before 08:30am Mon-Fr), airport pick-up and drop-off during the day and night time. b) upon request he / she might substitute main driver(s) during annual and sick leaves or for any other reason in case of need.
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, including the vehicle body etc.;
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts, as well as others as required in line with the SCO Security Policy, in the assigned vehicle; To guarantee the observation of appropriate procedures in case of vehicle accidents according to the SCO regulations and to report them immediately to the direct Supervisor;
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  • The key results have an impact on the accurate, safe, cost-effective and timely execution of the services.
  • To perform small repairs, to take action on other repairs and to keep the vehicle clean;
  • To register official trips in a log book: to report to the Supervisor on a daily basis the daily mileage, petrol consumption and other data;
  • To assist in loading and unloading of cargos/goods;
  • To perform other duties as required

Reporting to:

Logistic Officer

Basic requirements:

Secondary Education. Valid appropriate Driver’s license, with categories B,C and D.

Experience: 5 years’ work experience as a driver in international organizations; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.

Language Requirements: basic English (mandatory requirement), Tajik and Russian.

Working conditions:

The Driver on-call will be called in advance to perform duties for specific period and will be paid based on work done for each assignment (hours/days). Evening/night shifts might be forecasted.

Executive Assistant (Full-time position)

The Executive Assistant is responsible for supporting the Country Director and Deputy Country Director, including through correspondence, Notes Verbales, coordination of visits, protocol matters, etc. The executive assistant manages the agenda of the Country Director and Deputy Country Director and organize meetings/missions.

Main responsibilities:

Assist the Director and Deputy Director in managing agenda, preparing meetings with governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations, project partners as well as preparing briefs, taking minutes;

Manage working relations and network with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other official Tajik bodies (e.g., line ministries, state committees, local governments);

Arrange different events – such as missions of Swiss Official Delegations, Receptions, Swiss Community gatherings, internal and external office events, etc.;

Follow up the country context and provide the Swiss government, Swiss Embassy (in Kazakhstan) and Swiss projects in Tajikistan with information, particularly if such developments might have an impact on Swiss funded projects;

Fulfil any other responsibilities according to the needs of the Swiss Cooperation Office, for instance the executive assistant is responsible for replacing the receptionist during their absence or translation of letters when necessary.

Basic requirements:

 University degree or equivalent;

Previous work experience in a similar position is required;

  • At least three years of proven professional experience;
  • Ability to work independently, assume responsibilities and take initiative; ability to work under tight deadlines and
  • perform multiple functions;
  • Friendly, at ease with people and networking skills;
  • Very good organizational and communication skills;
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Excellent English, Tajik and Russian skills (writing and oral). Knowledge of a Swiss national language is an advantage.
