Dear visitor,
Swiss immigrants to Chicago and the Midwest have made valuable contributions to the growth of this great region and helped to develop strong ties in the fields of trade, investment, finance, research, technology, culture, education, nutrition, and agriculture. The Greater Chicago Area alone hosts some 100 Swiss companies that have created around 30,000 quality jobs in the region.
The Swiss consulate general maintains relations with state and local authorities of the 11 U.S. states in its jurisdiction, promotes trade relations, investments, fosters relations between all interested parties and furthers Switzerland’s interests through public diplomacy. Our goal is to bring partners in Switzerland and the Midwest together to further strengthen this excellent bilateral relationship. An outstanding example of a fruitful cooperation is the sister city relationship between Chicago and the Swiss city of Lucerne.
Our team works closely together with the Swiss Business Hub in New York, Switzerland Tourism and the Swiss-American Business Council in Chicago, and supports and promotes the activities of various Swiss associations and clubs throughout the Midwest.
Visa and other consular services for Swiss citizens and visitors will continue to be provided by the consular section of the Swiss embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Swiss consulate general in New York.
Please do not hesitate to contact us via email. Our small and motivated team makes every effort to provide assistance, information and contacts.
Thank you for your interest in Switzerland and for visiting our website.
Kind regards,
Bruno Ryff
Consul General of Switzerland in Chicago
