Master Program on International Governance - 2022-23, University of Geneva

The 10-months’ long course titled “Master of Advanced Studies in European and International Governance” - MEIG Program, organised by the University of Geneva in cooperation with the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) - offers young professionals from different countries, incl. Vietnam, an opportunity to share experiences and perfect their knowledge in European and International Governance, starting from September 2022 onward. A limited number of scholarships are also available.


SWITZERLAND LAUNCHES ITS NEW COOPERATION PROGRAMME 2021-2024 WITH VIETNAM

HANOI (06 August 2021) – Today, the Vice President of Switzerland, Mr. Ignazio Cassis and Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr. Nguyễn Chí Dũng, launched the new Cooperation Programme 2021-2024 of Switzerland. The new programme defines the strategic framework for the future economic development cooperation with an aim to support Vietnam in achieving market-based and sustainable growth. It foresees commitments of CHF 70 million (VND 1.8 trillion) of Official Development Assistance (ODA) grants. 




Switzerland supports Vietnam in building capacities for bank executives

Hà Nội, 02/07/2021 - Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) – Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam – Mr. Ivo Sieber signed the bilateral Agreement for the new Swiss Bank Executive Training programme (Swiss BET). The programme is implemented by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and aims to transfer modern banking know-how to Vietnamese bank executives. The programme will run from 2022 to 2027 and Switzerland will provide support with a grant of CHF 5 million (around 125 billion VND).


Opportunity Grants for Vietnam-related research projects

Postdoctoral scientists, senior scientists and professors of Swiss institutions are eligible to apply for Opportunity Grants on research topics with a link to Vietnam. Such grants aim at increasing the visibility of Swiss science, technology and innovation in Vietnam, whilst fostering collaborations between researchers and research institutions of both countries. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research, including social sciences and humanities.


Swiss-Vietnamese Research Program

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Vietnamese National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) have agreed to substantially increase their cooperation. A new common funding program launched on 1 October 2020 enables researchers from Vietnam and Switzerland to submit joint research projects.





Switzerland to fund an innovative project in agriculture sector

An agreement has been signed today by Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Lê Quốc Doanh and the Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam, Mrs. Beatrice Maser Mallor to fund phase 3 of the project “Remote Sensing-based Information and Insurance for Crops in emerging Economies”, or RIICE, over the next 24 months.


A high-risk infrastructure project turned to a highly marketable resource

In November 2018, InfraCo Asia divested its stake in the 29.7MW Coc San Hydropower project to TEPCO, the largest electric utility company in Japan. InfraCo Asia is currently funded by three members of PIDG – the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the UK Department for International Development (UKAid).
