Sustainability Standards to Boost Green Finance for a Low-Carbon Economy in Vietnam

Hanoi, Vietnam, November 11, 2022—As Vietnam aims for a low-carbon growth model and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, IFC, in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), is scaling up its support to the government to promote sustainable finance and spur private sector investment, to help the country implement its climate commitments.

The current cycle of the Swiss BET Program, which will commence next week, will provide top-notch banking training to over 80 senior bank executives from Vietnamese Banks over the next 18 months.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

Vietnamese postgraduate researchers from all academic fields are invited to apply for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships to pursue a research fellowship or undertake either a PhD or postdoctoral research at one of the Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutes or the two federal institutes of technology. Only candidates nominated by an academic supervisor at one of the Swiss higher educational institutions can be considered.

Switzerland supports Vietnam in enhancing Trade Policy and Export Promotion

Hà Nội, 22/10/2021 – Switzerland and Vietnam signed today an agreement on the implementation of the Trade Policy and Export Promotion (SwissTrade) project. This project improves trade performance and international competitiveness of SMEs by enhancing the framework conditions for trade, improving public-private dialogue mechanisms, and strengthening the eco-system for trade promotion. The project runs from 2021-2024 with the total budget of CHF 5.627 million (equivalent to VND 148 billion), in which Switzerland’s grant contribution is CHF 5.0 million (around VND 131.5 billion) and the counterpart funding from the Government of Vietnam and beneficiaries amount to CHF 627,000 (around VND 16.5 billion).
