Mr. Werner Gruber - Head of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Vietnam - handed over the documents to Mr. Bui Huy Son - Director of the Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT). These sectoral implementation strategies were prepared by the International Trade Center (ITC) under the SwissTrade project (Swiss Trade Policy and Export Promotion Project), financed by Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The implementation strategies are now being made available to the ministries concerned, sectoral trade organizations and other stakeholders.
During the ceremony, the ITC also presented the results and reports of the implementation strategies. The strategies are intended to contribute to the implementation of the National Import and Export Strategy for the period until 2030 and it’s Action Plan. The ITC prepared sectoral strategy reports for five priority sectors: electronics, environmental goods, wood and furniture, agribusiness, and textiles. For each sectoral strategy, a separate implementation plan is developed based on the export potential and contribution to employment and socio-economic development. In addition, the ITC has developed implementation strategies for five cross-cutting themes: digital transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship, quality, standards and certification, sustainability and inclusion, and trade facilitation. These are important elements for successful export development, and the findings are also relevant to the broader economy.
Another important outcome of the project is the report on the survey of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in priority sectors. It was conducted based on the ITC methodology and in consultation with stakeholders. These reports were provided to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Services (MoIT) for reference and partially fed into the national import-export strategy for the period up to 2030 and the action plan at national, ministerial and provincial levels.
However, the project's activities are not limited to producing reports, but also support the MoIT in organizing and implementing the strategy and action plans through training and capacity building for officials in the areas of management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the strategy and plans.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of various ministries and agencies, representatives of associations, industry, representatives of domestic and foreign trade organizations, representatives of enterprises, etc.
