Dear Guest,

A warm welcome to you to the online Consulate General of Switzerland in Ho Chi Minh City.

The official presence of Switzerland in the former Saigon goes back almost a century when the first Swiss Consulate opened in 1926. Later, it subsequently became a Consulate General and an Embassy, which closed down after the reunification of Vietnam in 1975. From 1994 to 2014, Switzerland marked its presence in the South of Vietnam with an Honorary Consulate.

The strong and still growing relations between Switzerland and Vietnam led the Swiss Federal Council to the decision to re-establish a full-fledged career Consulate General in 2015.

The Consulate General of Switzerland in Ho Chi Minh City provides the entire range of consular services to Swiss and Vietnamese citizens, including Schengen visa services for all residents wishing to visit beautiful Switzerland, covering the entire territory of Vietnam.

On the diplomatic side, my colleagues and I are also handling - amongst many other topics - economic and commercial affairs between the two countries. In cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Hanoi, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO and, as a network partner, Switzerland Global Enterprise S-GE, we promote the bilateral exchange in trade and investment.

Thank you for your interest in Switzerland. I trust you will find the information you are looking for on our pages and the many linked sites. Please do not hesitate to contact us for questions or comments; we will gladly assist you.

Happy browsing!

With best regards,

Martin Maier
Consul General
