Most migrants nowadays live in cities, and their socio-economic inclusion and protection are central for sustainable development. The programme supports cities to plan for and create inclusive, prosperous, and resilient communities. It gives city actors a voice in regional and global debates on migration, and is powered by the continued, strategic collaboration with the Mayors Migration Council and Cities Alliance, linked with longstanding Swiss expertise and rooted in SDC's priorities.

The water and wastewater sector in Egypt is continues to face challenges due to underinvestment, limited governance and inefficiency. Switzerland supports the Aswan Water and Wastewater Company (AWSC) since 8 years through a combination of technical assistance, infrastructure, and awareness raising measures which have significantly improved water and wastewater provision in Aswan. The purpose of this Exit Phase is to further institutionalize the business processes previously introduced to the AWSC to ensure the quality and sustainability of water service provision.

The project addresses the high youth unemployment rate in North Macedonia (25%), caused by the mismatch between the skills provided by the education system and those required by the economy. The final phase will further strengthen the quality of the new dual school- and company-based vocational education and training system and the role of the private sector in its governance, ensuring sustainability and scale.

Independent Media for Public Accountability in Zimbabwe (IMPAZ)

Media professionals in Zimbabwe face restrictions with regards to financial resources, operating environment and capacities to engage citizens to hold duty bearers effectively to account. Switzerland’s contribution to two local media organisations will support investigative reporting, sustainability strategies for media houses and the safety of journalists, thereby investing both in media houses’ institutional capacities as well as improved access to information and freedom of media in Zimbabwe.

Sudan is facing one of the world’s largest displacement crises, with millions displaced by conflict, insecurity, and collapsing services, while shifting frontlines drive returns and highly fluid population movements. IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) provides the only nationwide system to monitor these dynamics in real time. The project ensures continued collection, analysis, and sharing of critical data across all 18 states, while strengthening early warning through rapid alerts and data from key border points. This enables humanitarian actors to respond quickly and effectively to evolving needs.
Somalia, UNDP Joint Programme Saameynta: Scaling up Solutions to Displacement

Somalia faces large scale displacement. Over 3.9 million people are internally displaced by conflict and climate shocks. Through this project, Switzerland supports displaced and host communities in Baidoa and Bosasso to better access services, secure land and housing, and improve livelihoods. By combining urban planning with economic opportunities and stronger governance, people will move from long-term aid dependency towards sustainable integration.

Le projet vise à renforcer durablement une réponse nationale coordonnée, fondée sur une collaboration étroite entre la société civile, collectivités territoriales, et les autorités sanitaires. En consolidant des approches déjà éprouvées, il permettra un passage à l’échelle des actions de prévention, de dépistage et de prise en charge du diabète.
