The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme aims at contributing to qualified workforce in the United Nations (UN) with adequate Swiss representation, by financing JPO positions in priority UN humanitarian organizations as identified in Switzerland’s International Cooperation Strategy. The programme provides young Swiss professionals with an opportunity to start a career in the UN while at the same time strengthening the UN capacities to implement the Agenda 2030.
Contribution to the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies 2026-2030

The Geneva Global Hub for EiE (EiE Hub) was formed in Geneva as an alliance to ensure that Education in Emergencies (EiE) is prioritized politically and financially. Switzerland’s continued support will help the EiE Hub carry out its 2026-2030 strategy and continue to influence the global agenda, prioritizing EiE as a lifesaving measure. Through its partnership with the EiE Hub, Switzerland aims at establishing International Geneva as the center of gravity for EiE and strengthen collaboration and leadership on the policy agenda across all humanitarian actors.
Area Based Recovery (ABR) - Reconstruction, Returns, Resilience and Reforms.

Switzerland’s contribution to this multi-donor program supports Ukraine’s recovery efforts in war-affected communities in the country’s East and South. The program uses an area-based approach to ensure the restoration of key services across different sectors for the local population, internally displaced persons, and returnees. The program works through existing governance systems, strengthens local ownership and capacities and supports an inclusive and participatory recovery process.

The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (GDPRD) is a unique vehicle for effective and productive public and private donor coordination in respect to rural development, agrifood systems, nutrition and private sector engagement, making joint action more impactful. The GDPRD allows Switzerland to carry new ideas and insights into a broader donor space, and nurtures Switzerland’s own insights at the cutting edge of evidence generation and policy development.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature, uniting State and non-State members worldwide, is the leading global knowledge organization for nature, integration both nature conservation and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods and economies. SDC contributes to implementing the Union’s programme to reverse biodiversity loss and strengthen climate resilience while ensuring gender equality and inclusiveness. Switzerland is a State member and hosts IUCN’s headquarters.
Lebanon ICRC Operation Appeals 2026: Additional Allocation 2026 H-Cash

Switzerland provides an additional contribution of CHF 2.3 million in 2026 to support ICRC’s response in Lebanon. Funding to ICRC’s operations allows the ICRC to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.
2026 Additional Allocation to UNHCR Operations in Lebanon and Syria

To contribute to the emergency response to the consequences of the escalation of violence in Lebanon since late February 2026 and its consequences in Syria, Switzerland provides an additional CHF 1’500’000 to its existing contribution to UNHCR to provide immediate protection and relief assistance to vulnerable groups affected by the conflict, in particular displaced populations.
SUD, OCHA: Sudan Humanitarian Fund 2026

Over 33 million people in Sudan require humanitarian assistance. The Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF), one of the UN’s country-based pooled funds, supports a coordinated and principled response to save lives and protect people in need. It enables a wide range of frontline partners to respond swiftly and effectively to priorities outlined in the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) and the Humanitarian Coordinator’s (HC) Vision Paper, as well as to emerging emergencies.
MPP: Access to patented medicines

Although patents protect medical products, they may limit their access in low-resource settings. Medicines Patent Pool negotiates voluntary licenses with patent holders, including Swiss companies, and grants them to generic manufacturers to reduce prices. Support from SDC enables people in low- and middle-income countries to access quality-assured medicines and technologies that are appropriate, affordable, safe and effective against non-communicable diseases and pandemics.
Accelerate Registration of Medical Products

Limited access to safe, effective and quality medical products in Africa is mainly due to lengthy and unharmonized approval procedures. In collaboration with WHO and Swissmedic, Switzerland is supporting African medicines regulators to both improve the efficiency of and harmonize their regulatory procedures and processes. This will give them greater autonomy and sustainability in making life-saving medical products available to their populations.
Contribution to UNRWA 2026

UNRWA contributes to stability in the Middle East. It provides access to basic services (health, education), relief and social protection, as well as humanitarian assistance for 5.9 million Palestine refugees in the region. Switzerland’s contribution for 2026 is earmarked for the organisation’s programmes in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
JOR: Strengthening Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) Humanitarian Corridor for Gaza

Jordan’s humanitarian corridor remains a critical lifeline for delivering aid to Gaza. Through this intervention, Switzerland contributes to strengthening the operational capacity of a key partner for humanitarian aid to Gaza: the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO). The project will reinforce JHCO by expanding staff capacity, enhancing logistics, and optimizing the Amman humanitarian hub for efficient aid delivery. The contribution is part of the Federal Council’s decision from 26 November 2025 to grant CHF 23 million to support the “Gaza Peace Plan” of the United States.
