Munathara – Debating our Destiny

The project aims to further institutionalize a culture of credible and non-partisan debate in the MENA region on relevant social, economic and political issues in different contexts. It reinforces the inclusion of MENA citizens of youth, women and other social groups including Arab refugees in the discussion to give them a voice to become potential opinion leaders. The poject is implemented by the Munathara Initiative, already a well positioned debate organization in the MENA region with a record of impartiality.

Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Project will enhance community governance in BiH by empowering local communities (MZs) as modern and effective structures for pro-active citizens’ participation. A new functional and organizational set up of MZs in BiH will be created and standardized countrywide. In turn, women and men will benefit from more people-centred local service delivery, better accountability and transparency of municipalities.

L’agriculture constitue la principale source d’emploi et de revenu au Bénin. Or, les réformes dans le secteur de l’agriculture ne sont pas encore toutes définies de commun accord avec tous les acteurs. La Suisse contribue au renforcement institutionnel et à la gouvernance des faîtières des producteurs et éleveurs afin que ces derniers puissent mieux jouer leurs rôles d’interpellation, de proposition, de participation et de suivi de la mise en œuvre des politiques agricoles.

Au Bénin, l’agriculture constitue la principale source d’emploi et de revenu. Des reformes ont été initiées par le gouvernement pour promouvoir les filières agricole et animale. Se basant sur les acquis des phases précédentes, la DDC vise à mettre à l’échelle le programme en élargissant la zone géographique d’intervention sur tout le Nord et d’augmenter le nombre de filières cibles, tout en s’inscrivant dans une approche plus économique et créatrice d’emplois pour les jeunes et les femmes.

Kyrgyzstan Electoral Support Programme (KESP)

The programme aims at promoting fair, inclusive, transparent and peaceful elections in Kyrgyzstan by building technical capacities and expertise of key institutions responsible for administering elections and by empowering Kyrgyz citizens, including underrepresented groups like women, youth, ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities, to participate and exercise their electoral rights.

Women and Girls First

SDC up-scales the “Women and Girls First” program of its priority partner UN Population Fund in southern Shan, where no other donor is present. The program strengthens government, civil society and ethnic health providers’ systems to be responsive to the needs of young people related to sexual reproductive health and rights. It improves access to comprehensive gender-based violence, mental health and psychosocial support services, and enhances social cohesion.

UN COVID-19 Response and Recovery Trust Fund (MPTF)

The MPTF provides the opportunity to alleviate the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 on the poorest countries. It complements Switzerland’s support to the UN’s humanitarian response beyond the immediate sanitary response. It is an opportunity for a coherent and coordinated UN COVID-19 response. It is an expression of Swiss solidarity to avoid that people fall into poverty and that inequalities between people and countries grow as a result of COVID-19.
Reintegration of Migrant Workers in Bangladesh

Reintegration of returnee women and men migrant workers into their communities through self or wage-employment and customised support services is a priority in the current pandemic context. The project will take advantage of the favourable relationship Switzerland enjoys as a longstanding partner of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment to provide technical assistance for establishing and improving services for returnee migrant workers, building upon country systems.

Improving Health for everyone through sanitation safety planning

The Sustainable Development Goal 6.2 aims to provide safely managed sanitation for all by 2030. SDC supports the scaling-up of the World Health Organization’s “Guidelines on Sanitation and Health” and its “Sanitation Safety Planning” tool which supports policymakers and practitioners build and manage safe sanitation systems. By capitalizing on Swiss expertise on sanitation, this intervention will make an important contribution to the 2030 Agenda on access to safe sanitation.

Core contribution to Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) global partnership

This core contribution to the global partnership Sanitation and Water for All hosted by UNICEF aims at strengthening the capacities of populations to enjoy their rights to water and sanitation. SWA supports countries that are off track in progressing towards the Sustainable Development Goal on water, including through a mutual accountability mechanism. The opening of an operational office of SWA in Geneva will enrich this growing community of global water actors, allowing SWA to work more closely also with key human rights and public health actors.

ECW - Education Cannot Wait

Decent Employment for Youth in Cambodia

Switzerland together with UN will strengthen Cambodia’s Technical and Vocational Education System to address key challenges for its large young population entering the labour market every year. The project supports young women and men to acquire relevant skills and information to respond to current and future labour market needs and to obtain decent and productive employment. It also contributes to more inclusive policies and improved coordination with the private sector.
