La Suisse a ratifié la Convention 2005 sur la protection et la promotion de la diversité des expressions culturelles de l’UNESCO. Une contribution au Fonds international pour la diversité culturelle FIDC, instrument mis en place par la Convention, est un engagement qui complète une position et une politique cohérente de la Suisse pour renforcer la mise en œuvre de la Convention et une contribution pour accroître les capacités et le dynamisme des scènes culturelles dans les pays en développement.

Tanzania Social Action Fund

Switzerland’s contribution to Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) for the implementation of the Productive Social Safety Net Programme (PSSN) will reach approximately 100’000 poor households in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar through cash transfers, public works and livelihoods support. The focus is on providing technical assistance to the new Livelihoods Enhancement component by bringing in the Swiss expertise and experience in skills development, small enterprise support and professional training with the aim of leaving no one behind.

The ICHR is the Palestinian national Human Rights Institute and ombudsman, dedicated to supporting Palestinian citizens’ rights. It monitors independently the performance of the government and its compliance with its legal and human rights obligations. Using mediation and dialogue, it advises the authorities to improve respect of human rights and to support victims of violations. Support to the ICHR with institutional development as well as with program funding contributes to the democratic state building agenda of Switzerland.

FAO Desert Locust Emergency Response in the Horn of Africa Region

To control the spread of the worst outbreak of desert locusts in decades in the Horn of Africa (Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya) and safeguard livelihoods of thousands of affected vulnerable households, Switzerland intends to contribute to the regional desert locust crisis appeal by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

cases and 1’770 deaths have been reported in China alone; while 877 cases and 5
deaths are reported amongst 29 countries. A vaste majority of the cases have
been diagnosed in Hubei Province, putting the provincial care system under
considerable stress.

UNMAS: Regional coordination for Mine Action

SDC will support UNMAS to consolidate and expand the Mine Action Authority (The Office of the High Counsellor for Peace - Descontamina Colombia) capacity to coordinate with regional and local authorities in 13 prioritized mine-affected departments, ass well as with other public socio-economic development policies. This will ensure transition period to new local and regional governments and the inclusion of Mine Action public policy in the general planning of 13 prioritized departments, facilitating the improvement of efficiency and efficacy of Mine Action in the field. It will build on a project previously financed by the UN Multipartner Trust Fund for Sustaining Peace, within the implementation of the Peace Accord and the MIne Ban Treaty's obligation to have a mine-free country.

Mercy Corps - Building Resilience in Conflict-Affected Communities (BRAC)

South Kordofan is one of the areas in Sudan were the armed conflict is temporarily halted, but not yet solved, and many communities are still suffering from its consequences. These communities are hosting significant numbers of IDPs and refugees from war torn South Sudan, who share the very limited available resources. The project aims at increasing the resilience of female and male members of vulnerable households to economic, social and climate related shocks through improved access to gender responsive basic services and increased agricultural production.

La décentralisation est un processus clé de la démocratisation de la Tunisie inscrit dans la nouvelle constitution de 2014. Après la communalisation, l’Etat Tunisien engage la réforme de la régionalisation, avec l’objectif d’une mise en place des nouveaux conseils régionaux en 2023. Pour lever ce défi la Suisse appuie l’Etat Tunisien pour poursuivre cette réforme avec une approche holistique et participative, à travers une contribution au fonds fiduciaire TERI géré par la Banque Mondiale.

Contribution to IFRC Emergency Appeal: Novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak

As of 06. February 2020 a total of 28’292 infections and 565 deaths have been reported with the majority of the cases occurring in China. The preliminary Emergency Appeal from the IFRC is seeking Swiss Francs 3 Million to support Red Cross Red Crescent Societies globally, to contribute to stopping transmission of the virus, and helping to ensure the health and dignity of communities affected by the outbreak. IFRC will work closely with National Societies in countries where transmission has taken place, and on preparedness measures for all countries. The main area of focus for this response is Health and WASH, which will include risk communication and community engagement, psychosocial support, capacity building of NS on epidemic response and support. Other areas of focus are protection, gender and inclusion and migration. While at the moment the response is largely in the Asia Pacific region, the IFRC is supporting National Societies in at risk countries with preparedness activities. The IFRC at global, country and regional level is coordinating with other agencies including WHO, UNICEF and CDC in information sharing and guidance.
