Christoph Schelling has been Head of the SIF Tax Division since 2010. In this role, he takes care of and coordinates Switzerland's international tax dossiers at the bilateral and multilateral levels. Ambassador Schelling was first appointed to the UN Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters in 2013. Committee membership makes it possible to get actively involved in work, detect trends and developments at an early stage and bring Swiss views to bear in deliberations.
The entire Committee meets twice per year, usually alternating between Geneva and New York. It deals with international tax law and tax policy matters from a globalisation viewpoint and seeks to achieve a balance of interests among advanced countries, emerging market countries and developing countries. The term of office is always four years. The experts selected are nominated by their home countries' governments, but they act in a personal capacity.
