Swiss Cooperation Programme in the South Caucasus 2026-2029

The overall goal of the Programme is that people of the region benefit from sustainable and inclusive economic and social development, democratic public institutions, human security, peace, and increased climate change resilience, achieved through regional dialogue and cooperation.

The Swiss Cooperation Programme 2026–29 for the South Caucasus reaffirms Switzerland's continued commitment to promoting peaceful, inclusive and resilient societies in the South Caucasus. Building on past achievements, Switzerland intends to make an effective contribution to the region's development pathways by focusing on three thematic areas: (i) human security and sustainable peace, strengthen civic engagement and democratic institutions, (ii) increase climate resilience and (iii) sustainable natural resource management and foster inclusive and green economic opportunities. The financial commitment for this period amounts to CHF 60 million.

During 2026-2029, Switzerland will support the South Caucasus region in the following key areas:

  1. Human security and sustainable peace, strengthen civic engagement and democratic institutions
  2. Increase climate resilience
  3. Sustainable natural resource management and foster inclusive and green economic opportunities

Across all its work, Switzerland promotes fairness, inclusion and equal opportunities, helping communities become stronger and better prepared for the future.
