About the Embassy of Switzerland in Accra

As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic, financial and legal affairs, as well as science, education and culture.

Visits via appointment only

As of June 8th, long-term “D” student visa and family reunion applications, over 90 days, can be submitted to the Embassy by appointment only, to be requested by email : accra.visa@eda.admin.ch

For all consular affairs (passport, civil status/family reunions, legalization, etc.), please contact the Embassy by email first: accra@eda.admin.ch for detailed information and to set up an appointment.

Visa: Recommendations for travelers as of 6 July 2020.

Many countries, including Switzerland, are adapting their entry rules in line with the current epidemiological situation. For additional information, please consult the webpage of the State Secretariat for Migration SEM.

Coronavirus - Urgent notice

As of 1.9.2020, Kotoka International Airport in Accra will be reopened for international flights. Please note however, that land and sea boarders still remain closed until further notice.

Coronavirus: Quarantine upon entry into Switzerland from certain areas

On July 1, 2020, the Federal Council took various measures to prevent a new wave of coronavirus. In view of the increasing volume of travel and the rising number of new infections since mid-June, the Federal Council decided that travelers from certain areas will have to quarantine. Togo and Benin

The French authorities have confirmed that the representation agreement for Schengen visas has been suspended. Therefore visa applicants from Togo and Benin can no longer submit their files to the French embassies in Lomé and Cotonou nor with the Swiss Embassy in Accra or via VFS Global. 


It is no longer possible to obtain a visa from the Swiss Embassy in Accra or via VFS Global.

Visa questions for Belgium should be addressed to the Belgian Embassy in Abidjan.


Novel Coronavirus

On state level, the Federal Office of Public Health of Switzerland FOPH  informs in regards to the Novel Coronavirus and publishes travel advice accordingly. 

The Travel Advice FDFA (in German, French and Italian) offers travelers basic information for travel preparation by informing on possible risks and certain precautions. They are to be considered as a complementary source of information.

Visa for Latvia

Schengen states have currently suspended representing each other in visa matters.

Therefore the Swiss Embassy in Accra is unable to process visa applications for Latvia until further notice.
