Climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss and soil degradation are probably the most serious challenges for humanity – and they are all man-made. However, solutions do exist. The projects and cooperation on display in the exhibition demonstrate it. Individual and collective responsibility to introspect on our place within nature in order to take action is key. Through cooperation a better, more sustainable future is possible. This pictures collection invites the public to imagine and create its own "oasis".
"In search of an oasis" features ten Indian photographers from across India, who were commissioned by the Swiss Embassy and SDC to document a variety of interventions in India being undertaken in response to the onslaught of climate change. These photographers are Kunga Tashi Lepcha, Meziwang Zeliang, Kenilo Kessen, Palani Kumar, Parikshit Rao, Payal Kakkar, Ranita Roy, Sonam Dorjee, Sundeep Bali and Taha Ahmad. The exhibition is designed by Sagar D. Singh. The scaffolding of the exhibition is made of bamboo to highlight the theme of sustainability.
The event is supported by SDC and the Swiss it! Initiative. It will be officially inaugurated by Dr. Ralf Heckner, Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, on October 13, 2022 at 06.00 pm at Open spaces, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. It will remain on view until November 06, 2022.
