The backstopping mandate increases the WIs’ desk ca-pacity response and is thus an important contribution to attaining the ambitious goals of the SDC in the water sector. In addition, the mandate contributes to the relevant positioning of the SDC in the sector. The continued collaboration with Skat in this phase without tender is consistent. The mandate requires established backstopping skills, familiarity with the SDC’s sector interventions as well as strong positioning in Switzerland (in terms of recognition by other actors) and abroad (networks with other centres of competence in the South) for which Skat, with its close interplay of consultancy and resource centre activities, still stands as a unique partner in Switzerland.
