Simone was born and brought up in New Zealand, her parents are Swiss and South African. Both are talented musicians – her Mum is a professional pianist, her father plays the alphorn, sings and yodels. No surprise Simone and her twin brother Pascal took up music as their vocation. Simone resides in Berne now.
The Faust Quartett is quite an international group, Birgit Böhme, their cellist, is German, Ada Meinich, playing the viola, comes from Norway and Annina Wöhrli, violinist, is Swiss, too. Apart from Simone, everyone is residing in Basel, where the Faust Quartett rehearses.
They have quite a varied program in New Zealand, with some classical works and one from a contemporary Swiss composer. You will hear : ‘Death and the Maiden’ by Schubert, ‘Quadriga Quartett’ by Helena Winkelmann,’Letter’s Quartet’ by Janacek, and ‘Quartet in A minor’ by Beethoven.
