In the Gaza Strip, over 65,000 people have been killed and essential infrastructure destroyed, forcing families into unsafe shelters with limited access to water, sanitation, and protection services, including education. 1.9 million people or about 90% of Gaza’s population, have been displaced during the war, with many forced to move repeatedly. Food insecurity, malnutrition, and psychological trauma are widespread, especially among children. Most households face water insecurity, while blocked aid and fuel shortages cripple humanitarian efforts. Legal systems have broken down, leaving many without identity documents or access to justice. In the West Bank, violence, demolitions, and settler attacks have intensified. Destruction of water and shelter infrastructure has left thousands vulnerable and exposed to severe health and protection risks. Movement restrictions, displacement, rising unemployment, and lack of services have deepened hardship.

NRC’s multi-sectoral approach allows flexible emergency interventions in a highly volatile context based on the evolving situation, needs and vulnerabilities of a civilian population that is facing ongoing displacements.
