Consulate General of Switzerland in Asunción

This representation supports Swiss citizens who find themselves in need because of illness, an accident or theft while travelling. It also informs the responsible Swiss representation.

Please note that honorary representations do not have consular authority and therefore can not issue visas and Swiss passports nor act as a notary or handle civil status events.

The Embassy, as the official representation of Switzerland, is located in Montevideo, Uruguay and covers all areas of diplomatic relations between the two governments. The Embassy represents Switzerland's interests in the fields of politics, economy, finance, law, science, education and culture.

Regional Consular Center in Buenos Aires

The Consulate General of Switzerland in Asunción does not provide consular services. It is the Regional Consular Centre in Buenos Aires that provides consular services to people in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina.

Life certificate

The annual procedure for the AHV/IV life certificate has changed as of 1 January 2022.  The certificate of proof of life and marital status will no longer be sent to all insured persons. The Swiss Compensation Office (CFC) and Disability Insurance (SI) will inform those insured persons who do not have to submit these certificates in writing by post. You will receive the information letter one month before the month in which you would normally receive the certificate of life and marital status form. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Embassy of Switzerland is closely following the development of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). The Embassy recommends that Swiss citizens in Paraguay follow the guidelines and recommendations of the national authorities.
