Important COVID-19 Information updated 28.06.2021
On June 23, 2021, the Federal Council decided to lift the entry restrictions for persons from third countries who are vaccinated.
For vaccinated third-country nationals, the regular entry requirements will apply again from June 26, 2021.
Entry restrictions continue to apply to foreign nationals who are not vaccinated and are without rights of free movement, entering from risk countries or regions and who do not belong to any of the exceptional categories of the Covid 19 Regulation 3.

The Travelcheck allows you to check whether and under what conditions you can enter Switzerland.
The Visa Section of the Embassy of Switzerland in Addis Ababa accepts only visa application for Schengen Visa for persons that are vaccinated or for cases of special necessity.

The online booking system for appointments is suspended. For booking an appointments please send an email to addisababa.visa@eda.admin.ch
For vaccinated persons: Indicate that you are vaccinated or will be vaccinated before your departure.
For cases of special necessity: Submit by email the proofs of special necessity. You might find information of the required proofs on the above-mentioned webpage of the State Secretariat for Migration SEM.
Long waiting times are to be expected. Calculate enough lead time to get an appointment to submit the visa application.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are special rules for people entering Switzerland. Please refer to the information of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).
Holders of an expired Schengen visa, who could not use the visa due to Corona travel restrictions, cannot receive a free substitute visa.
